Red Privet will sponsor Johns Hopkins’ MedHacks 2.0 event, a 36-hour medical hackathon where students team up with industry leaders to develop new solutions to today’s medical challenges. Red Privet will also send three employees to serve as design mentors, including Director of Experience Research Arabella Crawford, and Principle Experience Designers Betsy Noullet and Lissa Richards. The event will be held on September 23-25 at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
MedHacks is a three-day, student-run event that focuses on “bridging the gap between engineers, clinicians, healthcare professionals, and entrepreneurs to accelerate medical innovation.” During the MedHack weekend, interdisciplinary teams collaborate to research, code, and present innovative medical solutions that are judged by a panel. Last year’s MedHacks event drew nearly 400 participants from across the globe and produced projects including a device to detect deep vein thrombosis, a method for detecting compartment syndrome, and an SMS-service for Caribbean medical facilities to communicate their need for medical equipment and help coordinate the donation.
“We’re thrilled to both sponsor and participate for the second straight year as design mentors,” said Matt Hummel, President and founder of Red Privet. “It demonstrates our continued thought leadership in healthcare design and aligns with our focus – to help people navigate healthcare with confidence.”
