person-img-3lrichardsFebruary 22, 2016 – Red Privet’s Auldyn Matthews and Lissa Richards took the stage at the 2016 World Information Architecture (IA) Day in Pittsburgh – hosted at UPMC Enterprises on Saturday, February 20. World IA Day is a one-day, annual celebration focused on the practice and education of Information Architecture. Their presentation, entitled “DoGo Mapping: Bridging the Content Strategy Gap” provided attendees with pragmatic tips to move from content strategy to design implementation.

World IA Day 2016 was hosted across 57 locations, spanning 6 continents and 28 countries. This year’s fifth annual event, entitled “Information Everywhere, Architects Everywhere”, brought together a community of information architects, user experience designers, content strategists, product managers, developers, scholars, and students for an interactive day focused on improving the discipline of Information Architecture.

In their session, Auldyn and Lissa discussed a technique known as “DoGo Mapping” – which involves diagramming how a user flows through a website or application design to help inform design strategy. Attendees learned how DoGo mapping can help translate a user’s intent into navigational paths and illustrate the actions that need to be supported in the design. Practical adaptations were covered to drive the best value from this method.

“We’ve found DoGo Mapping useful in taking the leap from the early phases of content strategy to actual designs and information architecture, particularly for large, content-rich sites such as healthcare systems,” said Auldyn Matthews, Senior Experience Designer. “We were excited to share our stories and experience with fellow colleagues.”
