Employees Volunteer at Local Central PA Food Bank

Red Privet celebrates a day of service each year as an opportunity for employees to give back to their community. This year, employees spent their 5th annual Volunteer Day by sorting, relabeling and repackaging food at the non-profit Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in Harrisburg, PA.

Today, 1 in 8 Pennsylvanians struggle with hunger – and 1 in 5 are children. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is an organization dedicated to ending hunger in central PA for over 30 years. Each year, they deliver more than 48 million pounds of food and grocery products (equivalent to more than 40 million meals) to more than 900 soup kitchens, shelters, and food pantries in 27 central Pennsylvania counties.

“Volunteering is in our spirit and culture, and we’re grateful to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank for allowing us to help them keep our neighbors fed”, said Matt Hummel, President of Red Privet. To help aid the cause in reducing hunger, Red Privet employees sorted, packed and wrapped pallets of produce for Susquehanna Valley families.

“We all recognize how fortunate we are,” said Hummel. “It was a great day, with a great team, for a great cause.”
